Racist attacks in Britain
The victim is a Sikh taxi driver
Own correspondent, London: A Sikh taxi driver has been the victim of a racist attack in Britain. An attempt was made to remove the turban of the taxi driver named Baneet Singh. The question was, “Are you a Taliban?” The Sikh community in Britain was outraged. Baneet Singh said, He picked up four passengers from a casino in Reading on Sunday in a taxi to take them home. At first they were right. But after a while, the passengers took to the streets. One of them in the taxi kicked and pushed him. The passengers sitting in the back also started beating him. One tries to take off his turban. Asking, ‘Are you Taliban?’ Police are investigating the incident. No arrests were made until Tuesday night. Bonit used to teach music to children before the corona infection. But he lost that job in the lockdown and started driving a taxi. Baneet is still scared of that incident. Says, such an experience has never happened before. I will not take a taxi at night. Tanmanjit Singh Dhesi, the only British Sikh MP, condemned the incident and tweeted.
